I really enjoyed this story。 I thought the characters were written so well and felt connections with them。 Pagan does a great job with writing about grief。 Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC。 Four stars!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Did I know where this book was going early doors? Yes。 Did I still love every bit of it? Yes! Rom com perfection。 And it was funny at many points, but it was also heartbreaking in its portrayal of abuse and grief。 I just so wanted Aly to let Wyatt love her and my god, I was relieved when she finally did 🥰 I was so invested in this - devastated there wasn’t an epilogue 😭

Didn’t like either of the main characters or the writing style

DelightfulPagan has done it again。 At first, I thought: "not another book with this over used plot。" But, since I have enjoyed many of her books, I read along。 I wasn't disappointed。 The characters are endearing and the book is about the struggles, brought about by our own insecurities, the self healing in forgiving and the inner honesty required to recognise our shortcomings and also forgive ourselves。 Deep and well written。 Thoroughly enjoyable book。 DelightfulPagan has done it again。 At first, I thought: "not another book with this over used plot。" But, since I have enjoyed many of her books, I read along。 I wasn't disappointed。 The characters are endearing and the book is about the struggles, brought about by our own insecurities, the self healing in forgiving and the inner honesty required to recognise our shortcomings and also forgive ourselves。 Deep and well written。 Thoroughly enjoyable book。 。。。more

The premise sounded promising - two people who don't necessarily get along are bequeathed joint ownership of a beautiful beach house。 Unfortunately, I found the characters to be underdeveloped and missing the one essential ingredient for romance which is chemistry between the leads。 The characters are in their 30s but did not seem to have the maturity to match their age。 The premise sounded promising - two people who don't necessarily get along are bequeathed joint ownership of a beautiful beach house。 Unfortunately, I found the characters to be underdeveloped and missing the one essential ingredient for romance which is chemistry between the leads。 The characters are in their 30s but did not seem to have the maturity to match their age。 。。。more

Not my fave。 There wasn’t any conflict and a lot was held back from the reader to create twists that felt a bit too convenient。

2。5。 The 。5 is because I unexpectedly cried at the end, but the 2 is otherwise deserved。

Sink or swimPTSD is rough。 And it's rougher when combined with grief。 But when you take steps to actually address both it makes all of the difference。 Sink or swimPTSD is rough。 And it's rougher when combined with grief。 But when you take steps to actually address both it makes all of the difference。 。。。more

literally the definition of a beach readIf a thoughtless, simple no frills read is what you’re going for, this is it。 Nothing more or less than casual reading to help you relax。

I can always count on Camille Pagán to bring on all the feels。 She writes in such a warm friendly way that you want to cozy up and crawl into her stories。 Aly is unaware that she is lost in grief until the incident that forces her to come face to face with it。 She literally runs into Wyatt at the Lake Michigan house and he is also grieving the loss of her brother, his best friend。 I love these two together and the process they go through to come out whole on the other side is messy, funny, heart I can always count on Camille Pagán to bring on all the feels。 She writes in such a warm friendly way that you want to cozy up and crawl into her stories。 Aly is unaware that she is lost in grief until the incident that forces her to come face to face with it。 She literally runs into Wyatt at the Lake Michigan house and he is also grieving the loss of her brother, his best friend。 I love these two together and the process they go through to come out whole on the other side is messy, funny, heartbreaking, and beautiful。 Camille captures life experiences perfectly。I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Best book I’ve read in quite a while。 I laughed, and I cried。 Such a true to life real love story! If you’ve ever lost someone or lost your way, this book may help you find some peace。 Loved it!

Camille Pagán has a gift for writing realistic storylines that takes on past trauma and grief but can turn it into the perfect feel good story。 This one is her best one yet and I simply can’t wait for the next book。

Quick cute and emotional read which doesn't sound like it should work but does。 Aly is struggling after losing her brother even though she wants to pretend she's not。 She ends up at his beach house in Michigan with his best friend who has been living there unbeknown to her。 They both own the house and need to figure out a way to move forward together and decide what to do with the house and their grief。 I liked this book felt the characters were likeable and felt the struggle they both had to ge Quick cute and emotional read which doesn't sound like it should work but does。 Aly is struggling after losing her brother even though she wants to pretend she's not。 She ends up at his beach house in Michigan with his best friend who has been living there unbeknown to her。 They both own the house and need to figure out a way to move forward together and decide what to do with the house and their grief。 I liked this book felt the characters were likeable and felt the struggle they both had to get through their grief and try and live again。 I want to thank NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the arc。 。。。more

There were things I loved, and things about this book that I didn't enjoy。 It felt rushed -- it seemed like the author came up with this great concept and plot, but then she rushed to get it on paper and parts were not developed carefully or thoughtfully enough。 It was a quick read and it did keep my attention; I looked forward to my evening reading time because I was engaged and interested in what was happening and I was invested in the characters。 [Spoilers ahead]Aly's character was well-devel There were things I loved, and things about this book that I didn't enjoy。 It felt rushed -- it seemed like the author came up with this great concept and plot, but then she rushed to get it on paper and parts were not developed carefully or thoughtfully enough。 It was a quick read and it did keep my attention; I looked forward to my evening reading time because I was engaged and interested in what was happening and I was invested in the characters。 [Spoilers ahead]Aly's character was well-developed and I found her both relatable and sympathetic。 I have not experienced some of the life events she did, so I can't speak to whether or not her feelings would be relatable to someone who has experienced trauma。 However, I could understand her professional frustrations and motivation。 Some of the peripheral characters - James, Seth, Meaghan, Cindy, Harry, Tim, Mari - did not require more development because they were less important to the story。 We had caricatures of who they were and why they mattered to Aly, and that was fine。 But Luke and Wyatt should have been explored in a more thorough way。 The author paints Luke almost as though he is a literal angel; in fact, I found him distasteful (as distasteful as you can find a deceased character who is revered by the protagonist)。 I understood that he was Aly's protector and she survived her childhood because of him。 I can understand that he was her best friend and she was devastated by his death。 But I felt as though his micromanaging her life from the grave was icky。 I did not respect how he basically manipulated Aly and Wyatt together。。。 though borne from good intentions, they were adults and he did not need to control their lives to that extent。 They had both spent a lifetime avoiding people's control, so it was interesting to me that they were so willing to let him do that to them - and if he would do it after death, I would assume that he did it while alive, also。 I also felt like the relationship between Aly and Wyatt was rushed。 There was no delicious slow burn。 She arrived, he was dirty and gross。 And then he shaved and they jumped into bed。 It's not a matter of being shocked about their sleeping together。。。 it's that there was zero lead-in to either of them having feelings for each other。 His making her coffee in the morning was nice, but the whole thing seemed really under-developed。 I would have liked some more "moments" between them, some more understanding of why and how they discovered their feelings for each other。 A relationship has to be more than the realization that they've both lost a sibling。 Everything tied up in a nice, neat bow at the the end, which is fine。 I like books that have a clean resolution。 But I think there could have been more about Aly's decisions regarding her job and her relationships with James and Meaghan, and I think there could have been more of a game plan for what she would do next。 Overall, it was an enjoyable read。 Parts were frustrating, but it kept me entertained and I would likely choose another title by this author in the future。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this one, though I wasn't expecting much。 I'd never read anything by this author, but now I'm intrigued and want to try out some of her others。 I got some Katherine Center vibes here because it has a romance element, but actually deals with a lot of other issues too。 I really enjoyed this one, though I wasn't expecting much。 I'd never read anything by this author, but now I'm intrigued and want to try out some of her others。 I got some Katherine Center vibes here because it has a romance element, but actually deals with a lot of other issues too。 。。。more

I’ve become such a fan of Camille Pagán’s writing。 She puts us inside the head of women that are real and relatable。 Women going through many of the same struggles you and I face。 Sure, she puts them in situations I may never find myself in, but that makes her stories so entertaining。In 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮, Aly Jackson is mourning the loss of her brother Luke。 As her grief still has a hold on her, Aly has a bit of an outburst toward her coworkers, and thus, she is put on unpaid leave from her editor-in I’ve become such a fan of Camille Pagán’s writing。 She puts us inside the head of women that are real and relatable。 Women going through many of the same struggles you and I face。 Sure, she puts them in situations I may never find myself in, but that makes her stories so entertaining。In 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮, Aly Jackson is mourning the loss of her brother Luke。 As her grief still has a hold on her, Aly has a bit of an outburst toward her coworkers, and thus, she is put on unpaid leave from her editor-in-chief position at the magazine 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥。 She decides to get away and spend time at the house Luke left her。 But she soon learns that Luke also left the beach house to his slacker friend Wyatt。This is such a cute story, and I don’t mean to diminish the more serious topics by using the word “cute。” But I loved how Aly and Wyatt were brought together and how they were such opposites。 Pagán touches on a strained mother/daughter relationship, childhood trauma, and how people deal with grief differently, but she does so gently, and with a side of humor, so the story never feels heavy。 Grab this one today!
